Is the house built yet? Do you have pictures of the room and your furniture? That would be helpful.

You should post a photo of the room from all angles to get the best help and ideas. From what you describe, not sure wainscoting is the best choice.

I am not a fan of this type of trim only in one room > Id need to see the space and your furniture . There are many ways to add interest in a space .

it's a simple board & batten with a simple edge cap, but I like how it goes through the window, rather than under, the ceiling is a tall slope and anything shorter would have looked stubby.

I had originally considered putting coat hooks on this end, as it is right by the front door and powder room.

Wainscotting looks best when there is not a lot of furniture pushed right against it. And it was also originally to protect the plaster from pushing chairs against it (chair rail), when they used to put dining room chairs against the wall when not in use (18th c.). So it works best in dining rooms, halls and entries, and stairwells.

It doesn't work so well competing with headboards and dressers and such pushed against it. Because then how high do you make it? It is going to be conflicting with the horizontals of the other furniture.

Board and Batten Wainscoting is a bit more modern in its details.

Wainscoting in a bedroom is tricky because you cannot arbitrarily select a height for it. You have to consider the height of all the items you plan to place in the room.
