Post on another forum about "AI architects"

last month

I was bored and browsing on Reddit, and came across this post. Had to laugh at the floor plan! Pretty similar to some of the weird things that AI does with room/furniture renderings we see on the decorating forums.

I think architects don't have anything to worry about ... yet!

What do you mean? I think it looks great, and who needs a front and back door anyway.

I guess we're meant to do laundry in the bathtubs (one for wash, one for rinse maybe?) Wondering who gets "Bedroom 4" - at about 3' wide and with nothing but a sink.

"Architects are cooked." Does that happen in the empty space labeled "Gourmet Kitchen"?

This AI-AIA candidate is still in kindergarten. What will it learn from?

    More "A" than "I".

Well architecture is no longer going to be considered a "professional" degree (reduced access to student loans). There are apparently lawsuits regarding the use of AI especially with non-disclosure: A law firm used AI to prepare a case and cited cases and precedents that do not exist. The client is suing them for not disclosing the use of AI and they are also in trouble with the bar association.

We are going to be stuck with AI and we have to know how to use it, the problem is not knowing how to use it. If you use it diagnostically for example, if you just input generic information about what to diagnose, you won't get anything other than the list of differential diagnoses you can think of yourself. But if you ask the questions in a certain way, and can eliminate some of the possibilities, it can come up with some specific, more rare possibilities that no one may have considered.

A few years ago a DJ at a local classic rock radio station was taking requests for songs that started with "R". I called her up and asked her to play Pirates by Emerson Lake and Palmer. She told me Pirates does not start with R. I told her everyone knows pirates start with "Rrrrr". There was a silence on the phone and then she sheepishly said, "You are a clever man".

She did not play my request.

I have one kid in marketing and another in the music business. The use of AI worries me for their careers, and the potential abuse of AI worries me for everyone.

I don't know why people think AI is a good idea.
