Porcelain tile if you really want a durable floor. Go with the 12x24 size or larger for less grout.

^ agree - just my preferences but I like a simple slate-like look with hardwood

My vote is for slate. It's a classic material and almost always looks good in a room. It's super durable too.

ONE tile for ALL of mud, bath, laundry. Tumbled slate would be great. Porcelain is fine too, a deep color, and matching grout, and the larger the tile, the LESS grout to clean.

I agree that a version of porcelain slate is the way to go. I wouldn't pick one that is too dark because dark colored floors tend to highlight lint and dust. I'd look for a medium charcoal version like la_la girl posted.

Dark or light porcelain - either will show something, but easy to clean. No to vinyl flooring in case of washing machine leaks, been there.

Very happy we have tile in there. Everywhere else on main floor is wood and LVP and wood being by one another looks awful

I have a real slate back splash, but ceramic tile flooring. Slate is generally uneven and chips easily. What I've got is easy clean up, can get wet, doesn't scratch or chip and extends into the mud room. I have solid Brazilian Cherry wood flooring in the rest of the house.

I would aslo stay away from grout for the simple reason it holds bacteria and on a farm lots of that for sure . on dog feet
