Kitchen with too many colors

My kitchen originally had builder's grade off-white cabinets, brown granite, and white subway tile backsplash. We wanted an island and additional cabinets added ONLY, the builder was not able to find the same off-white cabinets to match the existing ones so we did a "statement" by going black. Then when countertop shopping, we could not find anything that matched the brown granite so we had to replace all of it and unfortunately chose a cool white... then we had to replace the backsplash as well.

We think the backsplash looks off and the cabinets are seeming more yellow than expected.. hoping once we put in the brass hardware it will feel cohesive? but IDK. something still looks very off.

Sometimes changing the lighting is the cure. What is the color temperature of your recessed lights? Do you like the look of the kitchen better in broad daylight than at night?

I would warm up the wall paint color if you plan to add brass hardware.

the black base cabinets are fine. What color is the wall paint color?

Are the cabinets a factory finish, or is it a specific paint color?

not a pro but for me the cool wall tiles are fighting the floor - sometimes less is more. If it were me, I'd remove them and pull some warmth to the counters with wood cutting boards etc.

Some of the chevron tiles should've echoed the floors. I wonder if there's a way for a tiler to replace some of the tiles.

You have "gray" counters and "gray" tile next to "yellow" cabinets and "yellow" walls.

Brass hardware isn't going to magically change that.

The kitchen looks like it could use more recessed lights as you seem to have shadows and dark corners. The right color lights (Kelvin) might help with overall colors, but it isn't going to drastically change things.

Looks like chevron tile is also backsplash. I don’t see that going away anytime soon.
I am not a pro, but maybe adding shelving that mimics the floor to the chevron tile over the buffet may work. Bring the floor color up.🤷‍♀️

I ahve no idea what you are doing. The granite could have been matched for sure , I have matched granite 15 yrs apart in a space. That goofy cabinet over the DW needs to go and all the cabinets should hvave gone to the ceiling . No need for a backsplash on the buffet wall atall and IMO all wrong to put backspalsh there the splash being the operative word. A nice piece of art there and maybe a bit of decor on the buffet type cabinet and done . Yes the cabinets are yellow they always were you should at least go LED 4000K bulbs that will help a bit but putting gray into the mix was wrong. Mybe ad 2 pendants in glass over the island in amixed color cglass with atouch of yellow.

njmomma's idea of open shelving across the tile in the same finish as the floor is a terrific suggestion. Add useful handcrafted wood and pottery items--cutting boards, wood bowls, etc.

Thanks for sharing your Dilemma, which is educational for anyone following your post. Decisions were made piece by piece instead of holistically without taking into account your fourth "wall," the floor. But you can add some wood shelving and some interesting handcrafted pieces to warm up the coolness of the tile and the black cabinets and link everything together.

You've backed yourself into a corner where the entire kitchen now is cohesive enough except for the white cabinets, that now appear yellow from the cool, grey splash.

I don't think brass hardware is going to help at all. It is just going to bring more warmth to the yellowing cabinets. I'd do pronounced polished chrome hardware instead to bring some cool to that side of the room. I'd also play with your lighting to see if hitting the yellowing cabinets with more cool light can make a difference.

Ultimately, getting replacements for your white cabinets is what is called for. In the meantime, remove your cabinet above the dishwasher. It looks odd and removing it will contain most of the creamy warm tones to the uppers on the range wall.

Sorry but that wall tile just doesn't work. The white tops look fine but that splash!

I don't even mind the paint. I wish you could see if you can color match the cabinet paints and put some moldings on the wall cabinets, looks unfinished. That is a huge herringbone pattern as well so it doesn't look right as the backsplash. I think I would have done something simpler
