Do you recommend painting bookshelves the same color as the trim?

I have a very light (almost white) austin stone fireplace with bookshelves on either side. Not sure if I should paint the bookshelves white like rest of trim in the house or an off-white more similiar to the stone. Thank you for your expertise!

Thank you for your question. In this photo, the cabinetry matches the kitchen cabinetry and has an old worlde glaze...a multi-step cabinetry finish (conversion varnish). We designed this built-in, handcrafted in our 28,000 sq ft shop and finished it in our facility prior to bringing to the home to install.
The trim in the home is a white latex paint (not visible in this photo).
In general if you are having bookcases built on-site by a trim carpenter with paint grade materials, most clients have the bookcases painted the same as their room trim. Ensure to insist on sanding between coats of latex paint, since the water in the first coat raises the grain. www.wildwoodcabinetry.com
