Looking for paint color ideas!

My house currently has beige ceramic tile floors and gray walls. We recently closed up the old TV cubby (it used to hold a smaller TV) and mounted a larger TV. We’re also planning to add a bigger fireplace with a mantel.

The current paint color on the wall with the TV is Sherwin-Williams Alabaster, but it feels a little too white to me. Our living room gets a lot of natural sunlight, and I’m hoping to repaint all the walls throughout the house, so I’d love suggestions for a color that would work well everywhere and still complement the beige tile and new setup.

Your wall color looks perfect, actually. Other ways to spend your budget and time instead and really upgrade your attractive living room:

    Layout before decor:

--Move your TV by floating your 2nd sofa to face the other one and bring the one on the wall closer into the room. Put the TV on the wall where you have all those bitty items. Armchair can face the fireplace.

-- See rug palette below and consider a dark blue accent wall for TV and your decor items. The dark wall will make your TV disappear when it's off. Fireplace will then be a more attractive feature with an art work over it. Check out society6.com for subjects and palette you like.

    Decor:

--Get a large art work for over the fireplace and forget about getting a bigger fireplace.

--You have a large, tall space but small little decor items scattered around. Go bigger and bolder on art and rug--less expensive than repainting, changing fireplace, etc.

--Get ivory curtains or curtains to match the wall color to add texture to the space and upgrade it.

It would be helpful if you would provide a photo of the other side of the room. It's hard to tell if you have a second sofa or a second armchair. In any case, TV seating should float, facing TV on left wall. Other seating to face fireplace.e

Larger rug so at least the front legs of all your seating would sit on the rug.

    Lower the TV

Select a larger rug that makes a better statement.

If I was looking to lighten and brighten a northfacing room, gray would be my next-to-last choice. Black being the last, of course.

following up on what lisedv posted, I agree.

lower the tv, AND consider doing either a mantel or a thicker surround. The tv looks massive compared to the fireplace surround.

what are all those outlet plates on the lower right portion where the tv is? weirdly placed. I'd see about combining into one plate down lower and close up the others.

as an example. this surround gives a focal point. but the tv needs to come down 5-6 inches.

thick natural wood mantel, bigger surround w/a stone inset surround.

You see the diff in how this one looks? (with the surround and tv) Proportional.

The other thing I noticed is that paltry blind on the left window. please forgo that and get a blind. Unless you can stretch out that blind another foot or two on both sides. (which you can't on the right)

Or, you could try something like shown in that picture above this one. with the one sided white blind. that might look better.

I agree about a larger, round coffee table. Here's a nice FP surround that goes w/your darker colors in the room.

Maybe you could try some woven wood or bamboo blinds instead of what's there now.
