The bathroom in my daughters bedroom is 10' x 11' and i want to redesign with a glass shower, stand-alone tub (the only tub in the house), sink vanity and toilet.

I am struggling with the best design for this and need help.

See attached thee options i came up with and let me know what you think works best. Thanks!

Note that the open wall has a door to the bedroom.

Would not do a stand-alone tub. Even if only one in house. Add a tub/shower combo.

Agree with @WestCoast Hopeful about tub/shower, would be best utilization of the space. Also, would have only one sink in the vanity so there's extra countertop space. You didn't mention your daughter's age, but growing girls typically need counter space to work with.

I think we have misunderstood. Is this an ensuite in your married daughter's home? Otherwise your plan to say the least is HUGE over kill. I get as we age walk in showers are a great asset but a young person's private spa??!! Why would you need double sinks in an ensuite where one person resides???? Go with a standard tub/shower combo and save the money for her first car. As far as design, sitting in the tub facing a toilet--not the best and all of your options are that way.

Skip the computer please? skip the Sketch Up?

Which are the 10' walls, which the 11' walls? What is the exact location of the window? Where exactly is the entry door?

You draw a 2 dimensional space, on paper, You note the walls, the exact width of the window, and its surrounding solid wall dimension. You upload that as a jpeg in a comment box BELOW.

You can use graph paper, straight lines, neat , legible.

Every inch. Don't add any fixtures. It's a remodel? Add jpegs of the current condition,

NO..is the answer to all you designed: ) sorry, no,

IMO you do not have the proper space for a FS tub. A rally nice deep soaker tub/ shower combo will fit nicely and just a better choice . Or at least just a nice soaker drop in tub . How old is this daughter ? Will she be cleaning that shower ? I do agree we need aproper floor plan to scale . Looks like you can move the toilet is that actaully possible , just because you can draw it does not make it happen, moving toilets can sometimes be not possible .Not sure where the married daughter thing came from

Wow - the overwhelming opinion seems to be that i should not have the standalone tub.

Note that this is a bathroom attached to a room shared by two teenage daugthers. The bathroom has just been gutted and previously had a tub as well as a shower.

My issue is that i plan to sell the home in 1-2 years and have been told it is beneficial to have at least one tub in the house (my other two bathrooms have no tubs).

Personnally i do not like the look of tub with a shower head. I also do not like have a stand alone tub inside the glass shower.

Thanks for all the feedback. Greatly appreciated.

If you are selling the house in a couple of years and this is the only tub in the house then make it appealing to someone with small children or pets that may need bathing. That is not convenient in a freestanding tub. They look nice but also take up more room - you need to be able to clean around them.

Question - is the condition of the bathroom that bad that it needs to be redone considering you are going to be selling very soon?

    You're selling in 18 months?!!

Remodels are for owners of longer stay, by a lot!!!!

For heavens sake , show the draw and measure and just get on with a very good band aid. You won't be there long enough for it to matter, and no matter to what YOU love. A tub shower is beyond common, and a bath share for kids is More Storage necessary.,. Draw it flat, all the dimensions, Its at studs, and note the exact toilet soil pipe locale as well.

without a floor plan with measurements and locations of existing plumbing we are working blind.

At first glance, I would put the double vanity on the righthand side, with the tub under the window. Plenty of room on the other wall for a toilet and shower stahl.

What is the boxed in chase? HVAC?

Note that the bathroom was original from 1920, and needed to be, and has been gutted already.

Lyn - the boxed in is coming from the bedroom where the small closet was extended.

Tub fill wherever you like , /w modern tub, TWO vanities will = 78" total and girls don't have to stand next to one another to brush teeth or apply make up.

If the toilet space is just to meet code at 30" ? Increase the vanity on left to 42"

This site is free as air,, when asked for more info, provide, you're left to design as you like, as no visionaries lurk here with a tape measure.

For lack of detailed replies to all above? . You'll have the gutted bath with no materials ordered to create the bath, right?

The lower right corner of your sketch up is a "small closet extension" of WHAT width? If it is 36" wide, all above fits. Nobody knows the exact locale of the entry door, size of window......or even its exact location in the wall.

In any bath of any size, the feet and inches for everything , walls, window , entry door...MATTER.

Still no to free standing tub that no one will find fun to clean around.

    This........or similar

You have room ( 42" in front of toilet for left drain, and 6" knee wall, same tub)

A 10x11 room might not have been an intact bathroom originally. So the entrance from the bedroom, the bedroom size, the overall adjacent spaces, plumbing opportunities, etc would need to be known for an optimal layout. With a gut job, restricting yourself to say, not moving a door, or not reworking an adjacent closet, can lead to muddleness and would be clear to buyers.
