Speed Queen is a division of Alliance Laundry Systems which is a manufacturer of commercial equipment. SQ's domestic/home frontloader is a smaller scale of those. Seems as if fits nicely toward "best stackable for a big family" regards to robustness and reliability.

LG make consistently well-reviewed front loading washers and driers (i.e. stackable). I've had several different models in different homes over the last 20 years, and all have worked well. When I moved into my current home, one of the first things I did was replace the Samsung units with an LG set.

Our SQ set is coming on 9 years old and I am starting to look at a new laundry pair. I looked at the current SQ FL pair and like what I see, but at almost $5K for a set that is a lot of money to spend. In terms of buying appliances now, I am leaning towards what one of our friends here recently told me: her repairman told her that none of them last for a dozen years or more without needing a repair or replacement, so get the appliance you like that you can afford and that appeals to you.
