generally the center support bracket is a meeting spot so no ring need to be open.

there is also a ring that can be sewn onto the curtain, rather than using a clip.

I goofed while describing the center support. Given the thin rod and the long span (8 foot wide slider), I didn't think that one support was enough, so I used two intermediate supports evenly spaced.

A question regarding hooks/pins comes to mind. What if you want to throw the curtains in the washer?

if the fabric is washable, you can throw them in the washer and wash anything that is attached.

You don’t need to use clips. You can use pin hooks into the smaller circle, and either take off the clips or just leave them hanging on the back. That is a better look than the clips. if these are tab back curtains (seem to be from the picture) the hook pins ideally are placed where the tabs are, and can be very difficult to get through the thickness of the tab and securely into the back lining. Pins need to go through the back lining or the tabs rise up and flop around. The posted video shows the proper distance down for placing the pins. A lot of work to get the pins in right, but the finished look is much better!

Wouldn’t wash curtains with the hooks still on…. They are a pain to put back on, but how often do we really wash curtains?

In my case, not often enough. Nasal festivities have prodded me to clean up my act. Until I learned about hooks (thanks y'all), I didn't realize how easy I have it with short curtains/clips.

I mentioned this conversation to my wife. She told me about having to replace curtain hooks as a youngster when maids came to the house and washed the curtains. Said it was a pain.
