Help with PB Furniture Mismatch

last month

We have secondhand bedroom furniture in my daughter's room, originally from PB Teen's Beadboard collection. We decided to buy a matching nightstand from the same collection. It just arrived, and it's a brighter white than original furniture!
Does white-finished furniture darken over time? The original bed and dresser are probably 10-15 years old. Or is it more likely PB just changed their shade of Simply White?
I'm not sure if I should just live with it or get something else entirely, maybe in an accent color.

Yes depending on the material, some white finishes are known to yellow over time. By the time the nightstand changes color your daughter will no longer be living in your home and the bed will continue to change color.

I don't think they will ever be the same shade. So, it just depends on how much it bothers you. Some people could easily live with the variation, others would want a different color entirely.

I would get some totally different and send back that nightstand.

You have my sympathy. I've lived with mismatched whites, and I did not enjoy the experience.

Most paint changes color over time. If the mismatch doesn't bother your daughter, is it still worth it to you to change things? If it is, I suggest getting a different nightstand in style as well as color.

I'd get a diiferent color night stand and one that is no higher than the mattress

It's more likely you have different dye lots. Even if you purchased them the same year they could be different..and they would likely fade/change differently over time anyway. I would be disappointed after the effort to get a matched set but in the end its a kids' bedroom... What to do about this can only be answered by you. How much of your time is this worth?

I appreciate everyone's input. I will say, the color difference is less noticeable at different times of day, eg, evening light/lamp light.

Since it is a childs room, I think the plan will be to live with it. FWIW, my 4-year-old loves it! She is just very excited to have a nightstand for the first time. And the style of this one is very functional for us.

I will keep my eye out for other nightstand options, but will likely keep this one for now. I plan to paint the walls a very light pink and incorporate a floral patterned comforter and pale pink curtains. There's some blue accents and a natural wood stained bookcase in the room as well. I personally like the idea of incorporating a rattan or wicker nightstand to add another natural colored accent.
