I’m assuming that this picture was taken at night, a daytime picture would probably be helpful for receiving suggestions. Reacting to this picture, have you ever considered painting your front door a cheerful/ brighter color?

Here are some items that would bring 'life' to your entry for a total of about $101 (or less) and they are all found on the rainforest site. Consider adding a bit of color in the space. Here's a pillow cover ($8) in a soft shade of turquoise, 12"x20", to sit in the black chair along with a pillow insert ($12). The chair looks narrow so a 12"x20" might be too wide - you might have to go to a smaller size.

Replacing the current table on the left with one that's a bit more substantial in a light turquoise color will balance the chair on the right. This table is good for outdoors and is priced at $38. You can keep the two lanterns you currently have on the outdoor table just as they are now.

You need a beautiful Spring wreath for your door and there are so many on the rainforest site but this one would work especially well with the new table and chair pillow. It's 24" and a bit of a splurge at $46 but it's beautiful and it would tie in with the pillow and table since it seems to have a bit of turquoise/blue. There are so many Spring wreaths on the site that you might find one that is more appealing to you; I enjoyed scrolling through them. The total for everything I've shown here (before tax) is $101 and I think these items would make your entry way very welcoming.

Here's another option. This wreath is only $26 (two other sizes are available) and would look just as lovely although it doesn't have the turquoise/blue tones although you could go to Michael's and probably find some of those same blue Hyacinth-looking florals, snip them apart, and stick them into the wreath below.

A bigger patterned rug… (shows less detritus that may gather)….covering most of the porch .. will make it much more inviting

Day ligt and farther back so we get a fuller impression. I am not thinking the chair makes sense and the only reason for a table is to put an ice-tea on. That would be difficult so far from the chair. What's to the right of the chair? Does the landing continue infront of the window?

Jay’s suggestions…spot on. With your budget, a new chair would be an expensive item. I would go with the one that you have. Bringing in some colour is a great idea. Trish, unfortunately rude comments can be par for the course on here. 🤪 welcome to Houzz… a shot from a distance would give us a bit more sense of the front of the house. A container with plants in it would also be nice, if you are into gardening at all.

Does anyone actually sit in that chair? If the answer is no, then I would remove it and replace it with an attractive ceramic planter w/seasonal plants.

It's already neat as a pin. You can move the chair and lantern to the back yard for spring. New wreath $50, new door mat $50, knee-high "color pot" of flowers to place on the small table $50.

Free spring cleanup: Give the door a good wash and dry, hose off the entry flooring or give it a quick light scrub with an old broom, warm water, and some dish detergent.

Will suggest that you remove the chair, table and wreath. Will suggest instead that you install plants in containers. Maybe include at least one taller plant and several smaller one. Since there is a lack of color will suggest that you include some flowering plants with vibrant colors.

The picture is very dark, so we're all reacting to that. If that's the view you want changed, then I'd say bring in some color. I'd probably paint the door a lighter color. Door mat, flowers, cushions, possibly a new chair new color for the door.

But, if this dark picture isn't how you see the porch --- and with more light, your black door and chair might look great --- then take a better picture. You probably don't want the porchlight on, as that is probably making the rest of your picture dark.

Since I’m a plant lover I agree with Norwood Architects’ suggestions & add a new larger doormat.

Two tall pots in aqua, yellow or soft red with shade tolerant plants would look lovely. No need to for a chair.

A picture from far enough back to see the whole home may bring more suggestions… as the entry is so dark it may be worth painting the brick ….on the wall that the door is on … creating a more visible point of entry

(if you can swing it, get a pendant light that hangs above the door for better lighting. and just a smaller side light for less glare)

what you could do is paint the porch area w/a black or charcoal, and then stencil over it.

and then stenciled. simple to do and you won't need much paint.

The illumination should be coming from a light mounted on the ceiling above the door.

The wall light is overly bright which you've done to over compensate for the lack of illumination.
