Do you need two sinks? Do you need a tub? Can you do a stack washer and DryerW/D?

Where will your hamper be? Hanging/folding area for laundry? A pocket door to conceal the W/D? How about a floor plan of the Primary Bedroom and Hall where you'll access the W/D.

Don’t need 2 sinks. Would like a 60” vanity with 1 sink. Tub will be on a different bathroom, so don’t need tub. Would like 5’ shower. I can do a stack W/D but prefer not.

Here’s original upstairs floor plan (ignore lower right) plus some options I’ve been messing around with.

I would get rid of the powder room and hallway on the right of the powder room and have a nice laundry room with sink.

That would also give you a larger master bath.

That spot to the right of the bathroom (farthest right on the floor plan) is our stairs to the basement- otherwise, yes that would be great!

You could still have a nice laundry there instead of a reach in. Room to hang clothes and store supplies.

Your second plan is better IMO. The only issue you need to address is that the toilet requires 30" of clearance=15" from the center to either side. I wish mine was 36 because 30 is tight. I would shorten the shower to accommodate the 30" of toilet clearance. My shower measures 42x42 inside and is plenty roomy. You could go to 42x48 and have a good size shower. Or 42x54 would also work. I would also consider moving the vanity to the left wall so it's across from the shower and toilet. You can put a linen cabinet next to the vanity on the door end. This will leave you room for hanging towels next to the shower and also let you exit the shower on either side if you're planning on bypass doors. A 60" single sink vanity with doors in the center and drawers on either side will give you plenty of storage.

I like that vanity :) I’d put it across from the shower but there’s a very off center window in that wall that would make mirror position very difficult or awkward. This house is like everything is 1’ narrower than needed or there’s a window somewhere. Or doors crashing into each other. I’m just trying to make it better cause I know I’ll never get to “perfect”

Your 2nd floor plan is better as layout for toilet is better.

I can see the window now in the picture you posted. Then your second option is still best as long as y ou leave at least 30" for the toilet. Do yourself a favor though and leave 34-36" instead. You'll apprecciate that 4-6" more around the toilet when it comes to cleaning than you will in the shower.
