Gray meets cement. Seems like a match. Why do you think it ought to be painted?

What’s your goal? To have this planter set right here in this corner with tall artificial decor items in it? Or are you open to other ideas?

It’s hard to get too imaginative with suggestions when all we can see of the room is this tiny 2’ x 3’ corner.

Your friendly neighborhood pedant wants to point out that what you have there is a vase. Not a planter. You can replace the fake pampas grass with genuine dried plants if you like. If it holds water, you can replace it with cut flowers and/or greenery.

Put it out in the garden with greenery as its background, not in it, as it is not a planter.

It is a vase and a pretty useless one in fact since chances are was not made to hold water only fake stuff . Why did you buy it is really the question. IMO a nice real plant could be a better choice .

Thanks for your comments! I thought it was a vase and then reconsidered calling it such because it was so big. I am open to artificial fillers! I will not put real plants in it as it will go in a rental. Here is the picture of the space. It will go where the lamp is. The couch is no longer black, but cream. Thank you.

When you say it will go in a rental, do you mean you live in a rental? Or that you own property that you rent out to others? If the latter, do you rent it out long-term or short-term? I would only put that that type of decoration into a very short-term rental property.

How about a more modern/less busy feel and suggest painting it black (in a dull finish), which will tie in well with the chairs’ black seats in the DR and suggest adding a complementary centrepiece.

If placing in LR, accessorize the coffee table to suit.

Adding art would be a nice way to pull in its feel, whether you place in LR or DR.

The vase is not a good addition to that room.

Consider putting the lamp in the corner next to the couch to use for reading.

Your space looks pretty filled/complete without adding the vase to the room. Artificial fillers can be dust catchers so a renter with allergies may not want it in there.
