Master Bedroom Layout and Furnishings

last modified: 4 months ago

We have sadly neglected our master bedroom and I could really use your help. The bedroom is not large by today's standards, and furniture layout is challenging with a king 4 poster bed and 2 nightstands. So we chose the simplest option when we moved in and have been too lazy to change anything.

I am thinking I would like to move the bed to the opposite wall, which is only 126", leaving ~41" for 2 small nightstands. I think this will improve the traffic flow and overall look of the room. The room already feels much more open since moving the footboard out.

In addition, I would like to replace the bed with a lower platform bed that will be easier to get in and out of. Also of concern is falling out of the bed (I am a very active sleeper and I know from experience that falling out of bed isn't a good thing). So replace the bed and nightstands, replace the chair with a comfy reading chair, and ditch the mirror over the dresser so DH can have his TV over the dresser.

My design board looks pretty boring, so I would love any and all suggestions. The only items on the board not being replaced are the dresser and the area rug. I'm not really trying to match the rug, but don't want to clash with it either.
