Why cover the transom? I think I would put hardware between door and transom and stack both to the center. No need for wall art there! Or go with those micor shades that adhere to the door itself, seamless no panels at all. New doors would allow you to put the shade between the glass so it's all enclosed. The trimout is the star. I might not compete with it.

Waht do you NEED from the window coverings? Is direct sun an issue? I assume nightime privacy.Do not do doors with blinds inside . There are panels that slide to give you privcy and IMO much better than drapes in this situation.

You could use curtains that draw one-sided to the center of the wall where the star is. The space where the star is would be completely covered with curtains. The balcony door handles would not be covered when the one-sided draw curtains are open, unlike curtains with two-sided draw. One-sided draw curtains are often marketed as "patio door curtains".

You can also look at custom vertical blinds that would draw and stack back at the center. They give excellent light control and stack back in very little space.

I agree that I’d drop covering down to below the transom windows. If you want to have art on the middle wall I’d replace the star with image art to fill the wall & hang blinds that pull up & disappear at top of door glass. Split blinds so you can have more light control with both or one blind up / down on each window.

I wouldn’t cover these. In our house our windows have roll down shades but our 16’ slider is just open with no covering

I understand having no window coverings if the view is strictly private & / or nature. It looks like the view out these doors is the homes across the street. Window coverings are likely necessary for privacy at night when interior lights are on.

The properties are large and I’m not so concerned about privacy in this area. However, the sun in the morning (looking East) can be blinding. I’m intrigued by the idea of having pleated draperies on one side to pull when needed. I’m not a fan of verticals or blinds between glass.

I only stopped by because, at a quick glance, I thought the heading of your post was, “Window Drapery Drama”. I thought that was funny.

I haven’t read through many comments; but you mention that someone suggested drapes on one side and that sounds like it may work. Might be a perfect solution for you, since you want drapes.

Another idea might be some type of motorized shades or blinds. I like the idea of a remote control for this.

If it's mainly light control you need, I would consider solar shades-motorized or not. I have cordless and they were pretty reasonably priced and operate with one finger. My longest is 6' long for a large window and it operates very smoothly. The solar shades will also block UV light, which will help preserve your furniture and floors.

IMO the transom could have a custom solar shade that just stays there all the time and then either motorized or manual solar shades or as I mentioned the sliding panels that sllows control of the UV and lets you keep the view.

Drapes from below the transom stacking on the middle wall.
    O the vmiddle wall
