Family room seating and design help

After adding an additional storage cabinet, I feel like this accent chair with caning looks out of place and cuts off the flow of the room. I could remove it but I really need the extra seating. Is there another type of chair or seating that might look better, or should I just remove it altogether? I would greatly appreciate any specific product suggestions.

Why not just change the covers on the chair to a blue and white pattern so that it links to every thing in the room?

IMO the rug is the real problem in the room.

Thank you. Definitely agree about the artwork. I have something ordered that should arrive in the next few weeks :)

I see the precious little one. Consider an ottoman style coffee table in a color that connects to the chair.

    Here, I used a leather/vegan leather style.

Btw, I like your existing throw pillow selection and arrangement. This is just another look.

What is the beige/cream colored rectangular block next to sectional on left side of photo? To my eyes, that’s more of a problem than the cane chair. I like the suggestion to replace the chair cushions with something that pulls in the blue of the sectional and balances it out. A nice print would add interest. Can you remove the stack of blankets on left side of sectional?

The chair is fine the pillows are just a mess so start there fewer and more coordinated with the blue and chair color. I too wonder what that cube is beside the sofa and a declutter a bit would be good . This is the FR so where exactly is the rest of the space with the TV?

Any kind of way that you can position the sectional with the longest part under the window. This would free up the wall for an additional storage piece like what you have. It would be 2 storage pieces with the chair in between.

The pillows are not just a mess. Clearly a child has been sitting there ajd playing. There is barely any clutter in thos space too!

We really need additional views of the room from each side. A floor plan with dimensions, doors, windows, etc.

I'd look for a chair with a lower back for better scale with the low-backed sectional (wouldn't have to be the color shown). Might also change the rug to one a bit larger, with a more assertive pattern, in a blue that's less grayed so it stands up to the strong blue sectional. Here are three possibilities:

The last one is my favorite.

I am more bothered by the window shade and valance. That seems to detract from everything else. I would get a shade that can be completely up when necessary. It will blend in with the top of the window. Drapery panels will provide a more finished look.

I do not see anything wrong with the window treatments. The valances are elegant, which of course does not have to be your style. There is no room for drapery panels, and they are not necessary.

id replace the accent chair with a rounded tub chair so it doesnt block the walkway. are you open to swapping the blue rug too? a light jute rug under everything would really help brighten up that corner.

Some option to go . Natural drapes soften the window and add height. Wowen wood shade brings texture and natural elements. Natural jute rug adds warm and simplisity.
