If I'm being honest, those tiles feel more bathroom to me than kitchen. It's almost impossible to advise on a cabinet color online. Everything you post will look different on everyone's monitors and will look different in your kitchen. I know this is a big investment in time and money. I would suggest you consider contacting Lori A. Sawaya. She's on this site and may be able to help you with a consultation. The cost will be tempered by peace of mind.

I do not think that tile works. Sorry. As far as cabinet color choose it before you even attempt a tile. In fact I would wait to choose your tile until the cabinets are done. Then you can bring in samples and leave them up against the backsplash area and get a true feel of what they are going to look like.

Photos are subjectve and I think either white works. Its a matter of do you want a bright truer white or do you want more subtle creamy white? I myself love a truer white but the current trend has moved towards creams.

Design interior south.. so is it the design of the tile you dont like or the color? Originally I guess I wanted to go white like you like.. I am not one for trends myself.. The 2nd one actually looks really nice but as I mentioned to me, it throws a pink color.. which worries me .. once the cabinet color is chosen you cant change it.. I also like white white like you..or bright white.. so many colors of white! the other look that was my 2nd choice was this.. Does this work do you think? it is nice too but I liked the previous as my favorite..

Its just not right. 1 its way too large a 12" x 24" tile belongs on a shower wall, bathroom wall or floor. 2 the design is too modern for your cabinet style and home. 3 It is too stark of a white with your counters.

If the color is leaning too pink from the sample it will only be compounded once the entire thing is done especially influenced by your lighting.

12X24 is huge for kitchen backsplash. you only have 18" or so of height, which means cut tiles.

Besides, that tile belongs in a bathroom. just NO

Beth H. I guess I thought smaller tiles were busy and I was told my granite is already busy.. or should I say the boss! I was not really planning on changing the granite if possible.. so I have to find something that works with the granite that I love.. or I was hoping to... I really like this color cabinet.. There is nothing wrong with that tile its a solid field tile and is a much better choice.

If you match the grout to the color of the tile, the diamond design of the backsplash tile will not be as busy. If you use a grout color that doesn't match the tile, the diamond pattern will be highlighted = it will look busy.

I also agree that the 12x24 tile looks more like a tile for a shower surround. Also, it seems too modern for your kitchen.

I would wait to finalize your selection of backsplash tile until after everything else is finished in the kitchen. Luciky, you are able to do that since your husband is going to install the tile. There are many people who post on here who have to finalize their backsplash tile decision prior to the start of renovation (or prior to the start of construction for their new home). You will be able to wait until the new cabinets + lighting has been installed = you will be able to see exactly how your tile will look with all other elements of your kitchen in place.

Some people have waited a couple years to finally select a backsplash tile - you can always just have your wall painted until you find a tile that you love. There are so many tile options - once the rest of your kitchen refresh has been completed, it will be fun to find the perfect backsplash tile!

dani_m08 . Great idea.. i will pick the cabinet color to go with the granite as it is staying and paint the wall .. which will be edgecomb grey and decided after that! Thank you .. I REALLY also like the small tile I posted along with that creamy warm color of cabinet.. who knows what color that is.. (I like sort of glammy femine looks if that makes sense) . now I just have to buckle down a cabinet color..

I lived with a “painted” backsplash for over a year in my previous house. You need time to live with samples and see how they look at different times of the day. There are so many great options for a simple, white tile to be interesting but not intrusive (same color grout is the best idea, as Dani said). Tilebar is a good website to browse and get samples from (5 for $5).

RedRyder.. yeah your right.. we can paint the backsplash area.. edgecomb grey like the rest of the kitchen and wait until we find what we love.. I do actually love that big tile.. at least as per the AI rendition.. but I would hate to hurry it and get it wrong! I guess my main thing is matching the cabinet color then to my granite and working on the rest! We had a similar experience when we remodeled the home we purchased four years ago. We ultimately chose Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace for our cabinets. Like you, I spent a lot of time researching whites and found the Kylie M Interiors website very helpful for comparing options.

What finally helped us make the decision was purchasing a sample of Chantilly Lace and painting four foam boards (available at both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams stores). We placed them around the kitchen and on the countertops in different locations to see how the color looked throughout the day and under varying lighting conditions. We still love the choice. In the showroom, Chantilly Lace can appear very stark and bright white, but in our home it softened considerably, while still being bright white, and looks clean and timeless.

As for hiring a color expert, our local Benjamin Moore store recommended someone to us when we were selecting exterior paint colors. She was excellent and made the process much easier. Perhaps your local Benjamin Moore retailer in Canada offers a similar service.

Painted foam boards is the answer!

I used BM Chantilly Lace for all my cabinets, built-ins, doors, trim and ceilings. It is a crisp white, but not stark. I picked it because it was the only white that didn't look dingy in my north facing FL kitchen. Once I picked it for the kitchen cabinets, I then used it for the rest of the house. Most of my walls are BM White Dove.

Have been recommended unless they go with that granite that you are keeping. Which I like. Do the foam boards and put them against your counters. And forget that big wavy tile. Sorry- it is bathroom tile.

alidenson.. I agree. I appreciated all the ideas Mrs Pete gave...great ideas and I appreciate the time she took to give them to me! (I do have a tube light in the kitchen.. I think its that tile that drags it down...and it is on its way out.. we are working on that currently... plus its in a east/north location...) . we did install new lighting that you can change the temperature/kelvins... and we will install under the cabinet lightening also.. thank YOU also! I agree with the feedback that the white in the countertop is a cream (think yellow or warm). The backsplash tile should also be a cream; it appears the one you've selected is blue-ish/cool. I'd change it to a cream color. Can update the cabinets by getting more modern pulls installed to elevate their aesthetic. Well I got our eating area done.. my husband painted our table and I bought the chairs... I added the area rug underneath ( I had it in storage so either way I can either keep it or go without?)

Do you ladies think it works? I think I have to find a new mat for the back door there..

Design Interior. thank you! Yes he did.. it was actually kind of a shock when we did it cause we have had that table at bar height for YEARS! After he cut the table down and the first night we sat down to eat dinner.. He said.. I feel like I am sitting at a kindergarten table.. lol.. well he actually did look like that! We are so use to it being bigger.. We are getting use to it now.. but wow! lol. My husband use to be a car painter so he painted it beautifully for me! I just cant decide if I like the rug under it or not? We also scotch guarded the chairs.. What do you think.. do you like the area rug or no? (I could of bought a new table.. and I was given advice to get a bistro style table.. but my family would not let me go round and that eating area is not very big if we went round , there would be no where to put the food.. lol.. that just would not have gone over well with my husband.. so we went this route! (there are 3 of us here)

I think it coordinates with the granite and gives a monochromatic look but I also think it's a nice separation. Maybe a different rug with a bit more color?

What are the colors in the rest of your home? If everything is neutral then no need to bring in a new color here. But if you have other colors then introduce them in the rug.

Ok so I FINALLY got my cabinets installed.. new uppers.. to the ceiling with a nice crown moulding and new doors.. along with a added cabinet to the right of the photo.. now I need to pick TILE.. this photo below at the moment is painted BM Edgecomb grey like the rest of the room.. and I had a warm under the cabinet lighting installed

What are your thoughts on this tile..

In a diagonal shape.. (diamond mounted) . Does this work ok?? Can a Pro tell me if this will work ok? I so much appreciate your help!!! (I was originally going to do white gloss tile diamond shape but I thought it might be too much white?) . I think the installer did a really nice job of my moulding after bringing my cabinets to the ceiling
