My 1890’s kitchen remodel was my first ever , done in 2007. I got help from the forum and individuals on Gardenweb.

Not one single thing in the house that I remodeled has been changed by the several new owners except the gorgeous lighting I wish I had removed and everything has been painted unrelenting white. We sold in December 2016. I did take the butcher block island for my DD.

@Bestyears the counter around the sink and gas cooktop are teak that I sourced. I have the cutouts for the sink and the Miele deep fat fryer. I had the biggest made into a table. The long baking counter is Soapstone as is the sunroom. I bought everything from a salvage company called Nor’east Architectural Salvage. I had everything shipped to my carport 😳. The clawfoot tub and the soapstone and sinks and all the glass cabinet doors were salvaged windows. I have the cabinet that 2 extra windows were used to build it it was our linen cabinet in the Master Bathroom. There was a huge piece in the front room that I sold to the buyer of our house. I think he disposed of it.

@enajasereht I miss that house so much. I spent so much time fixing everything and swimming and I loved everything about the area for cycling and friends at our church . The main room upstairs was our meditation room and we had one day retreats there occasionally. My baking was so easy with the Miele ovens and that great fridge / freezer. My Mom had the other downstairs suite and we had everything fixed for her. She passed away there in 2005.

Houzz is tetchy about Z.illow links (they had a big fight once), so I think your post was being held back and finally showed up today.

What a charming house. I’d have liked seeing it when you were there, I’m a big fan of your style.

One of the loveliest homes on a beautoful and historic street ❤️ I think you left about the time when preservation efforts began to wane, C . Not much has been done in the last ten years.

@Jilly yes I figured it was the Z link. No I didn’t have wallpaper. I used lots of intense color on the walls with wide white crown molding and added picture rails with the area between also painted with a gloss to make it look like even more molding. They are 12’ ceilings throughout the downstairs.

I had the same dark green in the kitchen there as I have here in VA and soapstone counters and soapstone sinks there and one here. I had a Navy DR and dark chocolate brown sitting room and our master suite was a Southwestern rusty burnt orange the front foyer and music room were a very pale yellow.

Everything was chosen to reflect the colors in my Native American Art and my Oriental rugs.

I did a mini version of it here in this house. This house is about 1/2 the size and ceilings are 9’.

Golly, that's gorgeous! I wish we had more characterful houses where I live, but with the exception of a few pockets, most everything has been built in the last 50 years.

@roarah I did it was a Miele deep fat fryer. We loved it! Had lots of parties and made so many tortilla chips and fried chicken and I made Cannoli. Those days are gone now.

Everyone thank you it was definitely a wonderful home. But here in Lexington we have a wonderful home and my gardens are so special. Appreciate all the great opportunities I have had to decorate and develop new areas of interest.
