BBQ Supper in. Few Hours! Ùpdate: Recap!
My cleaner came this morning for a few hours to zhuzh up the place (especially the screened porch) while I set tables. This is normally something I do well in advance but this whole month has been my busiest in a long while. I thought the supper would have about 15 people based on early returns, but we have morphed into 20 which changed my plans a bit. Help will come in the form of our favorite club waitress who helps me with all our parties and dinners. I ended up making more food (all the extras are adults) and we are now eating in three areas: dining room (8), great room ”everyday table (6), and screened porch (3 sets of 2 comprising 6). I could have put more in the dining room but that would have left the porch without a critical mass for socializing.
Menu: whole smoked ham (pulled) from our
favorite processor 45 min away (thank you dear DH who picked it up this am), potato salad, cole slaw, marinated salad (green beans, cukes, tomatoes and onions), watermelon and blueberries, corn muffins and strawberry shortcake ice cream (vanilla mixed with ribbons of dense tart strawberry compote and cubes of pound cake). Appetizers are spinach dip (Knorr recipe) and two kinds of pimento cheese served with crostini. Everything except the pork was made by me yesterdsy, including the desert.
Once we had 20 people I went shopping for nicer disposable plates. The ones pictued I found at Marshall’s and they are from the Bombay Company that I thought had been out of business for years. The color scheme is not great in the dining room but is for the other areas. I happened to have 25 of the red, white and blue napkins so that’s what I used.

Two in the big comfy chairs and two on the sofa. It’s only about 80 degrees and very pleasant on the porch even now.

Crostini in the basket, spinach dip in the large container and pimento cheeses in the small ones (Post its tell Lisa what to put in which dish. I also have post its on the island where the food will be.)
Flutes at the ready for champagne toast with dessert. Taking a leaf from Mtn I am asking everyone to change rooms for dessert.

I have something ridiculous on my table right now. A sister gave my some silly vases because she thinks I’m quirky. I like quirks but these are not really me. But I’m using them out of loyalty to her (and sent her a pic to prove it).
