What is your purpose for adding shelves?

I want to put some pictures and books

So, substantial shelving if you want to put books on them. And not too high.

Could we get a much-further-away picture of the wall where you are thinking of adding the shelves? Other furnishings nearby will certainly affect accessing the shelves.

I put shelving over the chest and keep in a similar design style...French?

You could go with #s 6, 7 to go with wallpaper, or #10 which looks like a match for the chest. If #10 is a match, I would go with it because it makes for a one piece look.

It would make sense to place the shelves above the chest rather than have them randomly placed on the wall IMO.
