Stumped on choosing curtains

last month
last modified: last month

I'm converting an 11'x11' office space into a guest bedroom. The windows have blinds, but I think they need curtains. I have hung curtain rods and curtains, more than a few times, and I know how to size correctly. But I've never been the one to pick out the actual curtains (color, fabric, design).

What do you think? The bed in the picture (it's a king size, to give perspective), the rug, and the artwork are no longer there. It's an empty room and the only piece I have is a nice pure cotton white duvet cover and good quality white sheets for the queen sized bed that I have yet to buy.

I think the bed needs to be a lower profile, and needs to sit with the headboard backed up against the windows to have the room make sense. The door in the back of the room that is closed will be locked shut (it leads to the master bedroom) and never used or opened (I may try to cover it).

Plain medium gray floor length curtains? Or a light design on the curtains? I'm lost. There's too many options for curtains... Any advice would be most appreciated.
