Sage colored paint

I’m looking for a nice sage green for my bathroom and kitchen. I use Sherwin Williams paints generally. There are so many shades to choose from and I’d like to narrow it down. I’d appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!!

    What are you painting?

What does your bathroom and kitchen look like? The sage paint needs to work with what is already in those two rooms.

My rooms are pretty neutral. I have white cupboards in my kitchen and neutral countertops. Right now my kitchen is Rainwashed by SW and my bathroom is white with a lighter wood look LVP.

I suggest you don't paint them the same color. With different natural light coming into the room, the paint won't look the same. I'd find a coordinate or a wallpaper for the bathroom.

As for natural light, from what direction does the light come into the kitchen?

Deeper sage does best in sunny rooms and softer sage does better in north light.

Benjamin Moore, November rain is a nice, lighter sage that’s nice if you don’t want it too dark.

We need to dig up all the old "best green/sage" color posts from 1995 to 2007 !

Back then the forum was called ThatHomeSite and then GardenWeb, before being bought out by Houzz.

I used BM Georgian Green for a bedroom and BM Saybrook Sage for a living room during that era.

How do you feel about the color you have (Rainwashed)?

Every home is different and the colors and intensity need to work together. For most homes Rainwashed would be too colorful for the kitchen and even too bright for most bathrooms.

Comfort Gray is the intensity that generally works well in a bathroom or bedroom and may still feel a bit too colorful in a kitchen.

When you say your home is mostly neutral it isn't telling us much. Neutral is some muted shade and most homes have neutral walls and mostly neutral furnishings. But they may be very warm neutrals, or really cool neutrals. Warm neutrals may have a pink, orange, or yellow undertone. Cool neutrals may have a green, a blue or a violet undertone.

Which shade of green works with your neutrals and the colors that you have in your art and decor?

I used a picture from the SW site that shows how different muted or neutral greens work in the same room. I picked this because of the blue green accents.

Rainwashed - more colorful than I typically would use.

Comfort Gray - softened - lets the accent be the star.

Aloof Gray/Sensible Hue - Softer, still has enough blue to work with the teal

I love soft sage, but not so much with the teal

Clary Sage is one of the most popular sage colors, but again, not great with the teal

Sage works well with eathy tones, but completely clashes if you have blue greens.

If you have more fall colors - orange reds, golds and other greens - it can be fabulous.

Frosted Fern is another of my favorites - Just a bit darker and grayer than Clary Sage, which is sometimes just a bit too green.

The colors that are already in your home will help narrow down the shades that work in your home.
