Oh wow. We pay for Netflix, but I barely watch. How do you find these shows?

1929Spanish - I don't know if it's a personal algorithym but Netflix featured a group of new shows called "Culture edit" and that's where I saw these. I have in the past asked into my remote for "home design shows" and gotten results.

I have two 7" long floating shelves in the living room I asked chatGPT how to style them. Turns out ChatGPT loves stacked books, plants and little pieces of Home Sense junk. No thanks. They would probably fit in with this show.

I liked episode 1 on Glowup, but like most these shows, the budget seemed way off. I think just the countertops and matching B/S would be 25k where we are.

I’ve watched a couple of episodes and I think they’re getting the materials for free. Must be.

I think decorating shows get free or very discounted products and the labor expenses are absorbed by the show budget. Certainly not the reality for most renovators!

Of course they do, they mentioned the brands repeatedly. That's fine. But then don't disclose the budget, because it is totally false.

Anyway, I like the series!

I did have a question about their penchant for decanting, which makes no sense to me. So I asked ChattyCathy and I agree with their comments:

... disadvantages: decanting takes time, containers need washing, expiration dates and cooking instructions can be lost, and you may end up with a container holding an awkward small remainder when the new package doesn’t fit.

My practical recommendation is to decant only:

1. flour, sugar, rice and oats you use regularly;
2. foods prone to going stale, such as cereal and crackers;
3. open bags that are difficult to reseal;
4. anything vulnerable to pantry pests.

My response;

1. Flour and sugar are in glass canisters, that is the one I think nearly everyone agrees on.
2. Yeah, no. That is what clips are for or ziplocs
3. See above
4. get rid of the pests

The Kitchen Glow Up sounds interesting. DS's newly bought 70 year old house could really use help. Replacing the cabinets or floor isn't in any budget but the countertop, backsplash and brown wainscoting are dismal at best. It could easily be a candidate for This Old House.......

Still watching Glow Up. She use that Revolux stuff, in a fuax marble, counter and B/S, every.single.time!

And I cannot forgive her for removing two of those unusual arched doorways, even tho the end results was great.

It is difficult to find any pictures of countertops these days without veining. Or any actual kitchens with solid color counters. I am thoroughly tired of the veined look whether the surface is natural or man made.

I need some decorating shows to watch! I'm not good at searching them out so I appreciate the sharing here. Thank You  😊

The woman can.not.stop.decanting. At least she uses erasable (?) markers to label them. Not sure how that holds up but beats printing I suppose.

I remain uncanted, but did buy 1 lazy susan and now some drawer organizers for utensils. This product was new to me - adustable bamboo drawer dividers?

I'm not a huge fan of open shelves but I loved that wall in the yellow kitchen. They could have put an arched doorway into the laundry room!
