I’ve always used earth tones - warm woods (light to dark), warm metals, earthy, organic colors. Even with mixing styles, none of that changes. Shades of brown are always the backbone tone of my home, with lots of other colors as accents, including soothing and calm creams.

That is beautiful! I lean cooler colors so lots of blues, gray, white and some green still.

Nonfancy china we got for our wedding, which I have since donated.

And 36 years later: our living room rug, which has all the colors in our whole first floor.

Always blues and greens. Neutral upholstered pieces (creams, light tans, etc.) with antique oak pieces and my fav blues and greens. Not the greatest picture as the rug doesn't have any grey, that's an aqua color. I collect transferware and vintage pottery.

Fun! This will take a bit because there is no crossover! I used to be all about creams and golds, and now I am all about white and blue (and orange in our apt)

Great thread idea. I'm showing my china against the wallpaper because the floor is dark hardwood, not a rug.

My color palette has broadened a bit, but the main colors are still there.

Love seeing everyone's dishes, porcelain pieces and rugs.

Our first living room sofa was terracotta, and I have two blue sofas currently (living room and guest/bunk room). All three would work with this rug too.

Well this is an interesting experiment and fun seeing the results!

No pic of my rug and china together because I no longer have the china but I mixed Coalport Countryware and Indian Tree Coral. Didn't have the rug till many years later but it was my grandmother's, then my mother's, now mine.

In the process of updating my living room and dining room. Love blues and greens. These are some of the fabrics I am using. Still looking for more fabric for another chair and pillows. Still deciding on a rug and lamps. I am also considering a built-in bookcase. This palette coordinates with my family room where my couches are turquoise tweed and off white velvet with medium brown leather chairs. I have changed colors over the years, but I have always preferred colors over a neutral palette. Will be moving onto kitchens and baths after this is done.
