This is going to make me sound like an alcoholic, and I promise I'm not, but I can't live without my wine decanter. :)

Now that's where the utensils should be - neatly tucked away in a drawer. Great Idea!

Pot fillers are great for filling tall flower vases too:)

My wish list for years (!) has been to have a kitchen with two ovens, a microwave, 5 burner stove, warming drawer. My husband made my dreams come true when we remodeled. We also have a state-of-the-art dishwasher, and a dutch door fridge (slim line). Our current remodel includes a counter-height casual dining area with Parsons stools, a small wine cooler and a music unit. What more could you want?

All stuff for raw food! Vitamix, Angel juicer, Inox dehydrator...

The pot filler is something I just couldn't do without. Pasta is my weakness...

@gramajan13: Love that idea, and love it even more that you got the idea from Houzz! ;)

I love my pot filler, thank you Thomas, and pull out trash drawer.

How could I forget the two other features I got from Houzz for our kitchen! The garbage /recycle drawer and a pullout drawer under the kitchen sink! Oh how I hate how you almost have to get into the cabinet to get every thing out. This will make it sooo much easier! Thanks again Houzz.

Jan, I think I have seen your pictures before and I am curious about your pull out trash cans bin. Why is there that small area where you have the box of refill bags? It seems like such a waste of space for such a small item. Was it intended for something else? It looks like the refill bags could be removed from the box and kept between the trash cans. That is what I did with my refill bags.

Drawers and pull outs! Love my 4 pot drawers and pull out shelves in the pantry. Seeing and retrieving is a breeze!

For those that like the integrated step stool, but aren't in for a full reno, I bought this at Home Goods and it slides neatly under the sink. Does the trick for me for $5.

I love my spice drawer where all the spices are face up and in alphabetical order! It is the only place in my life that is organized and it gives me hope- and I don't rummage around looking for an elusive spice. Also my daughter in law's kitchen has everything but the best is a mini ice machine behind a cabinet door- mine on the fridge always runs out- this is always full and you never hear it!

not to thrilled with my pot filler never use - it we are a family of five not ten.

I have a large, deep drawer between the sink and my large cutting board. The drawer holds dishes and utensils that I don't like to put into the dishwasher, and a compost container. I can simply sweep my cuttings from veggies that I don't use as well as coffee grounds into the compost container where it sits until I can take it outside. The drawer is convenient and keeps extra things off the counter. I compost everything I can because it's better for the environment, my garden, and as we have to pay for removal for each trash can, it's more economical too.

I love my hard plumbed steamer......use it almost daily for steaming vegetables, cooking spaghetti and crabs and lobsters, anything steamed or cooked in boiling water. Doubles as a sink......Thermador. Also love my hard plumbed coffee brewer, no need to add water and it fits in the wall, so doesn't take up room on the counter..... Brew Master.

I have never understood the need for a pot filler....you fill a large pot of water at the stove but still need to lug it to a sink to empty.

My kitchen is not big enough to have a proper island. My current kitchen is the largest I have ever had. I chose to use a vintage drop leaf table as my island. It works really well. When you need more space I just pull up the leaves. I would love to have a pull out garbage pail (s) under the sink. Actually I wish that all my cupboards on the bottom had pull out shelves. The other thing I would love to have is a marble counter top somewhere. I bake a lot and I make bread. The one thing I cannot do without is my very sharp 10" chefs knife and different cutting boards for different job. I have one strictly for cutting garlic and onions, a large wooden board that I only use for baking and pizza, one for vegetables and one for meat. Lastly although it is not a gadget I must have good lighting. Oh almost forgot, in my dream kitchen I would have one of those dust catchers for your central vac that you can open with your foot and sweep the dust from the floor into. Think that sums it up.

Love my instant hot tap. Great for cleaning pots easily. Also wish I had created drawers in the toe kick, not just for a step stool, but to store my off season placemats, trays and others platters.

@Kroze. Our builder just told their would be a 2 container drawer and I just used the example from Houzz for my photo. I agree, that does look like a waste of space, but I bet I could find something to store there!!

My favorite, must-haves of my recent kitchen remodel are both pictured below. Though we used semi-custom cabinets (Schuler, which we love and which our contractor said were the best he'd ever installed) a custom solution to the cabinetry over the refrigerator was required due to a jut-out in the ceiling from a staircase. My contractor hid the strange angle of the ceiling by building a vertically divided cabinet which holds cutting boards, trays, cookie sheets, muffin pans, etc. And, by ordering doors from Schuler, it matches the rest of the kitchen. He also took a small, closet-type pantry originally fitted with wire shelves and built L-shaped, narrow shelves that give me much more storage space, while being able to see everything I'm looking for.

I love my wall oven. It's placed high enough so pulling pans out of the oven and placing them onto the counter works like a snap! Baking sheets are stored vertically next to the oven and baking pans in the drawers under it. So handy!

Would love a pullup shelf for a KitchenAid mixer!

I want a shelf rack to hold all my boxes of wraps: aluminum foil, plastic wrap, parchment paper, wax paper, and 2/5 gallon bag. I want the rack to sit on my pantry shelf which is as deep as the length of my aluminum foil box. I want them to slide into the rack horizontally all the way to the back of the shelf. I want each slot to stack one above the other so I can just slide a box out, use what I need and slip it back in the slot. Each box would have it's own home and my pantry space would be used efficiently. Surely someone has invented this.

    @johudson,
Not that it would help your situation, but I have one of those pantries that is very narrow and pulls out from the wall. There was NO place to put my aluminum foil and plastic wrap, etc. So I had an unmovable shelf installed at the very top of the pantry. It holds six boxes of wraps and baggies. Perfect!

I'm a new Houzzer! LOVE hearing about everyone's Do's and Don't's and favorites, etc.
My 1961 kitchen just outside San Francisco is about to be remodeled. I need all the tips I can get! I'm single, love to cook and entertain. I love the idea of the pull-up shelf for Kitchen Aid Mixer. But where do other important appliances go, such as, toaster, coffee maker, blender, food processor, etc. I hate digging for them. My kitchen is 12 x 15 but will soon have some walls knocked out. How about a prep sink near the wine cooler?

I'm a big fan of appliance garages. It depends upon how much space you have. Another option is to have a narrow open shelve cabinet at one end of the counter. You could have open cubby holes where you put various appliances. It would go from the countertop upward to the height of your upper cabinets.

Never had a pot filler, but I imagine my mother would appreciate one. She has arthritis and other illnesses that cause her to drop things and feel weak -- but, she doesn't let that stop her from cooking! Even if it only saves a sink trip one way, that would still be helpful to someone like her. My two cents.

Built-in lazy Susan's for my corner cabinets and under cabinet lighting.

last house remodeled kithcen and used a matching wall cabinet on it's side between upper and lower. the door latched with a magnet and on th inside fac e of the door i applied a cutting board. you can use any width (or lenght)to accomadate what you need to hide. i had outlets in it so every thing stayed plugged in. i had a toaster, food proccesor, coffee maker, and electric mixer all lined up with the door down as work space or closed and out of sight. much less expensive than a custom appliance garage

Do you have a picture, kitty?

I am a Houzz addict. I collected tons of ideas for my new remodeled kitchen. I waited ten years to bring this kitchen to the new century. Although it was cozy, it needed storage space, granite counters and new floor. Thanks to your ideas I was able to accomplish my goal. My husband kept putting this project off, he thought there was nothing wrong with the kitchen, but when you have to store your frying pans in the oven and glasses in the dishwasher I think that tells you that storage space was very limited. I took the initiative and stained my cabinets and got help from a friend who is a contractor. I now have drawers galore, shelves, trash & recycle bins under the kitchen sink an empty oven and dishwasher :)
