What are you hoping to accomplish?

Here are some pics that might help you decide. In the last one there is molding on the ceiling and the ceiling in painted two different shades. This is a tray ceiling but you could also use flat molding on a flat ceiling. I would not hesitate to use wainscoting from just this one picture you've posted.

In this particular room I WOULD. But I would do it about ches high and faux panel the bottom by painting white and doing some trim work.

Yes. I think it would add sophistication & also keep the dining room chairs from scuffing your red walls. Would you paint it white?

I would paint the bottom white and leave the top as is (IF you are happy with it - or paint a different color if NOT happy).

On my screen there is a photo similar to what I have in mind. Maybe you see that too. It says "Lexington" something. I am on a my smart phone and it's hard to see.

Beautiful deep color you've chosen. Reminds me of a red I put in my dining room a few houses back.

I did something a little different than actual physical paneling or wainscoting in my room. I put a chair rail arond the room with decorative corner pieces and then painted a lighter color below that chair rail, to almost simulate paneling / wainscoting without the concern about permanence if I didn't like it. This allowed me to change either the color above or below whenever I wanted a different feel for a much smaller cost.

Without knowing exactly what you want to do in the room or your exact taste, it's hard to give an exact answer. From the two pictures you have, I would do something to bring in some lighter colors since you have a dark wall color, floor and table.

I think wainscot will chop up your small space. For saving the wall from the chairs, just add a chair rail and paint it to match the current raspberry color but in a glossier finish. I advise lowering the chandy to 36" or less above the table top. How about your windows? What's the treatment to be? That is going to have major impact on the space.

white wainscot with your red would be beautiful & very elegant looking

I love the color you have chosen for your dining room as well as the chandelier! I also think that a white wainscoting would look very elegant in this room as well as protect your walls. You may consider a white, cream or pearl finish faux tin backsplash/wall covering which is very easy to trim to size and glue up with adhesive onto the wall surface. Add a chair rail 3" around whole room. Paint white. On bottom add grass cloth. For texture. Add a big 45" sunburst to wall. Hang 8" above chair rail centered. Put all chairs on table. Add a palm for corner. If you don't want grass, go a print with red and grays in wall paper.

I was going to say yes, until I realized that there was a sliding glass door in the room. I don't like having wainscoting with a sliding glass door, unless the glass door had panes or was of a more traditional style.

The last two pics on eagle post above are nice and would work.

I would add it and paint lower white, because I feel in this small space so much red without some rest for the eye, is overbearing.
