the tiny photo here is hard to make out, but i was able to click on your name and see the other photos of the catwalk, chandelier, and tiny kitchen. is the catwalk open on both sides? is that a stair in the tiny photo?

the entry area - door, window above, the gable ceiling, and the chandelier - are all in proportion to each other, but there's no separation from the rest of the space. i'm not sure how big the whole room is - can you measure it from front door to kitchen wall, and the other direction too?

1. make the entry a real place. add a large area rug at the door, or change the floor to tile at this area. you could add 2 columns under the catwalk to form an entry area. the chandelier is the proper size, but dated.

2. make the catwalk private from below as well as to the people using it. you could try adding some heavy (not sheer) curtains to the catwalk along the walkway, with an opening to look down on the chandelier and front door. or add columns on top of the half-height walls. or even add full height wall to the top of the half-walls, leaving a nice window or even a juliet balcony looking down to the front door.

The living area is 19ft. we are thinking about bringing the bar out toward the living area more to make the kitchen. We placed our round kitchen table over near the atrium doors. We thought about putting a half wall/bookcase or a hall tree with a seat and storage at th front door (opposite the stairs). The catwalk is open on both sides. There are two bedrooms on either side of the catwalk. My bedroom is downstairs. Thank you for your quick response and I apologize for the tiny photos.
