Janine - Houzz is a large site with inspiration photos, advice and products for many different situations. I think you could almost view Houzz as a virtual "museum" of the design/construction industry...and who goes to an art museum to view the ordinary?

I buy, rehab and sell houses for 100K - you can bet I'm not putting 200 sq foot master bathrooms in an 800 sq foot house! But, I look to Houzz for inspiration on how to effectively use space, choose modern looking paint schemes, and see finish details. Just because I focus on a low income market doesn't mean that the houses I sell are completely boring.

While you are certainly right in noticing that many of the photos are of expensive houses and numerous discussions refer to exclusive materials and pricey renovations, that is an incomplete picture. Many discussions and idea books focus on how to make a space more appealing without spending vast sums whether with color, furniture placement, attractive displays, or how to use existing space in a visually pleasing manner.
