Ridge vent will travel along the top of your roofline. It's the most inconspicuous venting, IMO, and I wouldn't be worried with how it looks.

However, I would only install the ridge vent if you have adequate soffit vents. The combination of ridge venting and soffit venting is best for ventilation of the roof since it matches the physics of air flow. Hot air rises and is let out via the ridge vent while cooler air is intaked via the soffitt vents.

If you get snow on your roof, a ridge vent may not work either.

The ridge vent should allow you to reduce the number of power vents, saving you some potential power costs to run the fans and minimizing roof clutter.

The roofer is also installing all new fascia and soffits, so hopefully they match. He will be removing the power vents and replacing with the flat vents. We get snow occasionally. I think it snowed once last year.

I am about to have my roof replaced. There is a single existing power vent. I am at the decision point of keep it or replace it with a ridge vent. Either way, soffit vents will be installed. Any opinions? BTW I live in an area that gets Lake Effect Snow in the winter.
