A gallery wall would keep it interesting and wouldn't focus the eye so the rest of the room isn't drowned out. You can mix family photos, art you love, and vintage posters, whatever you like :) Maybe a wall dedicated to manly things like vintage golf photos [or whatever your husband likes] would work since the feel of the room is a bit old school with the leather furniture and heavy wood paneling brick fireplace.

you might consider painting the wood mantelpiece/paneling above fireplace as it all kind of blends in with the color of the leather furniture (white, black, grey would all work). I agree a gallery wall with a mix of sizes, styles, etc. would be good for that wall.

Thanks, but oh my goodness....when you mention painting the wood mantel - paneling above fireplace I immediately think, "What are the start - stop points?" This wood is all over the open family room - kitchen. Take a look:

I see, well maybe just the actual mantel itself, to make it more of a focal point and to break up all of the wood paneling a little bit. I would also lose the giant wood candlesticks.
