Marble around perimeter or on center island?!

Trying to design my kitchen and not sure where to put the marble! I am using a black leathered granite and a white marble (not sure which one yet). Should I put the marble around the perimeter with my range or on the center island where my sink will be?

wherever you will do the most cutting is where the granite should go.

marble is softer and more porous than granite, and if you get acidic things on it, over time it will etch. so lemons, tomatos, that sort of thing.

I love your idea, but please consider a few changes. Use the black leathered granite on the perimeter with a marble tile backsplash. Use natural quartzite instead of marble for the island for a similar look but much tougher surface.
