Thanks for asking! Generally, the fire burns cleaning and the smoke flows upward quite well. But we have had some occasions (windy days) where we will get a downdraft and some smoke can blow toward the sitting area. We are considering adding one more foot to the chimney, as well as adding one more course of brick to the opening. Hope this helps.
