I see. Without getting too complicated, you could use a stock traditional handrail such as the one attached. I would probably paint it white in order not to steal the thunder of the original railing: http://www.archmillwork.com/home/am3/smartlist_45 It will likely need to turn the corner at the winder and I think it is going to obstruct part of your window, unfortunately. If you wanted to get more complicated with it (and spend more $$), you could have someone design paneling for that area and integrate the handrail into the design.
