I'm looking for help understanding building codes in Santa Cruz County (specifically San Lorenzo Valley area) about what you need to do to convert a garage to a bedroom and therefore what you need to do to get a retroactive permit on an illegal conversion. The county website is impossible to navigate and the thought of going down to the office is exhausting so any expertise is very much appreciated.
