Need suggestions for bookcase cabinet

Hi, first time using this site and completely inexperienced at DIY. Looking for ideas of what to do with this, or even if i should keep it. Found it at the curb to be discarded and I think I like it, my husband doesn't. Always amazed at the before and afters on web but I have no clue what I could do with it. Would love to know if this cabinet has potential to look goog. Thanks in advance.

It looks like a great piece. If you wanted to transform it, maybe paint it black on the inside and paint the inside with a pop of color. It would be a great display piece.

I like it very much! Is it sliding glass doors on the front? It would be very nice to refinish to it's natural state.

Is this solid wood? If so I would sand it down and paint it. If the wood grain can be seen I would go with a stain, if there are a lot of scratches on it that you can't sand out I would use a color paint the would match your house. If it's not solid wood I would throw it out. Also be careful with picking up wood off the side of the street. It could be out there because the house had bedbugs.

It does have potential, but it all depends on what is your style to finish this furniture piece.

It does have sliding glass doors. It is in the guest room and I wondered about painting it white as the bed is white. It may be used to hold a TV, but not sure. I appreciate your comments.

I think it's wood but the top is like countertop - smooth and shiny definitely not wood. I spoke to the homeowner before taking it. She was just making room for a daughter who was moving home.

Ooh, that's an idea. The room is blue with white bed and trim (in process of being installed). I really am clueless when it comes to decorating. Would the black fit in ok and what might a good colour inside be? Thanks for suggestion!

I love it. does ikea still make panel colors? if you really feel the need to change it. I have friends from Norway with allot of that style furniture , great piece.

Just Googled the panel colours..Panyl. Another great idea. Don't have Ikea store and hadn't heard of the panels before.
