Lydia, the bathroom’s vanity is a white pedestal sink and is located to the left of the highboy, just out of view. The sink is original to the home’s 1926 construction. Cynthia was able to salvage and reuse it in the redesign.

I wish I had room for a real furniture piece in all of my bathrooms. This inspired me to at least use an antique shelf or medicine cabinet when a large piece won't fit. The window is beautiful.

This is beautiful. I love the way the photographer included the crystal door knob in the shot. Each element is thoughtful and lovely but the window is the star of this room for me.

Wow! We thank all you Houzzers for your wonderful complements. Question 1: Moisture hasn’t been a problem at all despite frequent use. We believe the key to this is the excellent exhaust fan. Question 2: The room’s wall treatment was created by a faux finish artisan using a base layer of soft blue with a two color faux glaze overtop. The faux glazes are a blend of orange and gray tones with the same soft blue base layered on top as a final softening layer. The artist mixed each paint custom, so we cannot give you the specific colors used. Panageries is working to get some additional photos… stay tuned!

The window and tub really make this bathroom for me! Classic and elegant. The only thing missing is a touch of modern technology (still with traditional looks) of a heated towel bar. Love this! We recently moved into 1927 condo and the bathroom has the original mercer tile, marble wainscoting and leaded stained glass window that is much like the "after" picture - I love it, but no storage ! This highboy has given me a great idea. But we have no exhaust fan and that wouldn't be in the budget. I wonder what the life expectancy would be for a wood piece in our space, with judicious window openings from time to time

Thank you so much mobiusbelle for your compliments! A wood piece wouldn't fair well in a moisture-dense bathroom. We haven't had any mold, mildew or water damage to the piece at all because this bathroom has an excellent exhaust fan that was installed in 2005, when it was renovated.

Mobiusbelle: We have lived in our home for 4 years now and rarely use our exhaust fan in our washroom...I know- bad. But our wooden cabinet has not shown any type of moisture issues. If piece has a finish, then it shouldn't wear any worse than wooden trims around windows, doors, medicine cabinets or mirrors. It's such a lovely look, it's worth the try.

This "after" is really beautiful! And not just because it reminds me of my own! :0)

I just think a classic black & white bath is like a blank slate. You can add absolutely anything to it.

I don't have an exhaust fan either, but I have 2 fully functional windows. It's worked fine for 100 years to clear the steam!

I love how that beautiful black crown molding stops on either side of the equally beautiful Art Deco style window. It picks up the same design that's in the window. Fantastic idea!
