Can you get your window supplier to create cgi's of the windows you're considering? We couldn't decide until we saw the different options as mock-ups at Home Depot on their computer, then it was too easy, as only one looked right - the others the scale was all wrong, either too big, too small, too high, etc. I found that my mock-ups done the old-fashioned way, pencil on graph paper, just couldn't compare.

bubblyjock - here are two additional images that may help with conceptualization. The first image reflects the planned windows (see "kitchen"). The second photo is just a sample, but it's approximately how the casement alternative would look.

melafau - I seem to remember an Ideabook or two where Houzzers were quite vocal in their dislike of awning windows, if that's any help!

I really like the image you've used to illustrate the casement - will it have a mull down the middle, so each opens from hinges on the wall sides? That's a really attractive option (I think it's called a French casement) - you can open it easily enough from the inside, and hopefully when it's open no-one passing outside will crack a head or a shoulder on it! If the space is a bit too wide, you could have a narrower casement on each side, with a third non-opening window in the middle - that way, neither casement will stick out too much when open.
