Rule of thumb is that if the rooms are open to each other they should be treated as one room...so one paint colour...multicoloured rooms were popular in the 80s

A nice warm grey

I agree with Anna, a warm grey would be nice in that room.

Take a soft grey/tan from the great rug.

Grey is an interesting comment, I have nothing in my house that is grey, everything is earth tones, i was thinking a warm color a more beige/ brown tone, my floor is brown tones my cuboards in the kichen are brown tones and my blinds have shades of browns.

Light olive green, almost to the point where it looks beige or taupey. If you find an olive green thats subtle it will play into everything youve got going on in there. It will contrast with the reds in the pillows and carpet, it will play with the greens in the carpet, and it will do well with the golds and beiges in the furniture and kitchen. Pick up some paint samples find that faded olive and hold it against your pillows, your carpet, the couch, make sure it agrees with all youve got there.

You can pick up small cans at the paint shop and sample them on the wall first, if you arent sure.

Cream (LR) and mocha (or greige), I would keep the colors fresh, light, and minimal. Brighten the space. Good luck!

Sherwin Williams has a fandeck called Concepts in Color- full of good shades in this range...

You have an area rug in your dining room with several colors. Choose onecolor from the rug in a light almost neutral tone. Your open plan holds a lot of furniture, assessories, photo's etc. A light color will unify all your spaces creating a smooth transition from kitchen, dining and living room. It will also help your white dining chairs blend in the space better.

try Ben Moore's Edgwcomb Gray...it's not "gray", it's not "tan", it's not really "Greige" either. It's just fantastic...will lighten and brighten and go with everything without taking over the space. That means your lovely things are most noticed, not the walls. I have lots of warm colors (brown leather, turquoise, honey-orange) and the walls really set everything off.

I had the same color wall as you do where your mirror is hanging... Was very heavy and depressing... I also have open floor plan and just finished my renos and painted my walls a warm neutral grey ... Very light... It really is soothing snd unifies everything... I would also consider a neutral rug and add accent colours in pillows with no prints or larger geometric print... Small thought...

Greige would definitely be my choice!!!

I did, and it makes the space feel larger... I have a narrow hallway.., if anything i could of gone a touch lighter as i have no natural light in the hallway and colour is slightly darker in my living room dining kitchen which have plenty.... Get some swatches and test the colour at different places under different light and time of day

Whatever color you choose for your walls I would suggest you do 50% formula on the ceiling if it is medium to light. If your walls are a medium shade or darker then I would do 25% formula on the ceiling. When you do this, the ceiling will pretty much disappear and you will have created a cocoon effect that creates a cozy environment AND it will not feel closed in. As you have it now, the ceiling is dominating the room.

Karen Paul Interiors, agree, depending on the height of the ceiling I always use a % of the wall color in the ceiling. Think you really notice the ceiling in the photo's because the ceiling lights are on. Speaking of ceiling fixtures, I would install a pretty chandelier over the dining table to give it a dining room feel and focus.

fos5 Interestingly enough I just finished a building with 6'8" ceilings and by doing the ceilings in a lighter shade of the walls, it actually eliminates the point of reference.

I would like to see the area painted all the same color, this will flow better.

I have been looking for a nice chandelier for my dining room, also want to find something for the living room, i will have to check out the sherwin williams stock and stones, also edgecomb grey.
