Beautiful! It looks like you have chosen more classic designs rather than contemporary. I love a subway tile. What if you use a marble subway tile to bring in a classic but modern element?

Provided you're still looking, I came across these antiqued mirror subway tiles today while searching for something to help a small room feel larger but then your kitchen came to mind!

I vote for a grey veined subway marble tile or subway stainless steel tile.

I actually think a little color would be a welcome addition. Why not a pale blue or pale green glass subway tile?

Your backsplash is a considerably small field in your kitchen. Why not take the opportunity to do something a little unique yet not too trendy? Loving the antiqued mirror Paula suggested above or maybe something along these lines:

Maybe some yellow to tie in with curtains if they are staying? Seems to be a highlight color with vase in top glass cabinet.

Thanks so much, everyone! I never even thought about removing the granite strip, but that's a great idea and I think I'll do it! I keep thinking about doing something a bit more trendy, and, funny enough, Amy, New Ravenna was the brand I was thinking. What do you guys think about this? The 1st pic Amy posted is this same style but smaller scale & 1 color (looks like glass which means it gets different tones). Similar to one you posted but less busy...so you it's still cool & trendy but should remain classic through the years

I'm going to vote no on the chevron, too. I think with all the switches and outlets you have along the wall, it would get too broken up.

The backsplash is relatively insignificant due to the amount of space it takes up on the whole.
My suggestion would be to lighten up the seating space with something more interesting on the chairs or even change out the stools for some that match the color of the cabinets. It's just so dark as it stands.

Danam, your instincts are good but I do agree with dorelia1976. The bold difference in the tile color along with the scale of the chevron backsplash in your inspiration photo is a bit too much for your beautifully subtle tonal kitchen design. The herringbone mother of pearl will give you tons of reflection and nuances in color without taking over your kitchen. If the mother of pearl's iridescence is too much for you, a marble herringbone would be classic with a little twist and you can find it for under $15 per square.

Kayla, sorry I don't know the cost. If I had to guess I'd put it at about $25 per square but I really have no idea. Have you tried to reach out to an authorized distributor? They may be more inclined to respond. I have seen some with more variation for as little as $18 per square.

Simple subway tile will be classic forever

I going with white or gray subway tile, or... glass tile. Your space already looks cramped, but nice.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and vote yes to the chevron tile. I kinda love it.
