Whew! Neutral is one of those words..... I love BM Revere Pewter. It does change with the light and the accessories around it. It looks great with blues and purples and burgandys. But greens also look great against it. I painted my dining room and kitchen with RP and couldn't be more pleased.

Edgecomb Benjamin Moore

We painted our kitchen and family room with Sherwin Williams Olympus White. It's not white, it's a nice lighter shade of gray, but not too light.

Edgecomb is too green. We used that one too in our den and I wished we had gone with something darker than Revere Pewter, rather than lighter. I also agree with a white trim. We did that too with the new crown moulding and trim.

If you are looking for darker than Revere Pewter, try BM Coventry Gray-- certainly darker and a bit more neutral. We always recommend trying samples first though, as paint can look totally different depending on the space.

This is Pratt & Lambert Winter's Gate...to show that white isn't always required to make grays pop...I couldn't make myself paint the mahogany trim throughout the house.

I agree with not painting mahogany.

Mineral Ice is gorgeous. It would go with Revere Pewter nicely, I think.

I just repainted my kitchen with Sherwin Williams Analytical Grey. It is worth looking at. A neutral grey that is tan-ish, greenish, almost white, or dark depending on the light. It is not blue-ish. very interesting and goes with all my other colors well. go get a swatch card of it or a sample jar for $6.00.

Happyasaclam - Maybe you are thinking of BM Gray Mirage, it is a neutral as well. Edgecomb can show more beige or more gray, depending on lighting but I have never seen it reveal as a green undertone - I have used it in many homes for clients.

zepled, maybe it's the light that come into our den through our sliding glass doors, but it leaning to the green side so much - I really regret choosing it. Our kitchen eating area leads right into the den and I can tell the diffence standing in the doorway. It could also be that I'm looking at up against the Revere Pewter too.
