Hi Ramona......First let me say Sunbrella is wonderful as long as you can launder it, and so
it might be wise to think of slipcovers, The dining area, the only problem I can see is the
table, I would suggest you find a vintage round table that will seat 6 easily, no corner legs
pedestal is better. The living room without knowing the exact measurements, looks
like it could accommodate to small sofas facing each other, with a nice coffee table. The wingback chairs would be move back closer to the wall, and the zebra print chairs (which are great) stay by the fireplace. It's hard to see what the fabric is on the wing back chairs but
I assume it's nice fabric, how Sunbrella will look with it is a question. I would not change the color of the sideboard or chairs. Any accessorizing should be done when everything is in the room,

First, I love the yellow and gray ikat from One King's Lane. Love all accessories except the first Weinrib pillow; the purple's not quite right. Go more red-violet.

As for the chairs and the china cabinet, I think stripping and whitewashing both of them would look great. I would try to end up with an antique white with yellow undertones.

I can't do the two small sofas although I would love to. That is my favorite arrangement. The fireplace is too far into the corner. Something I did not realize when looking at the plans which were the builder's standard.

The Ethan Allen decorator measured everything and said that really the only solution was to go with the sofa where the wingbacks are right now. The wingbacks were originally in the sunroom and will go back there once I have the sofa. I had a borrowed sofa from a friend who was actually 'storing' it at my house.

The table is round. It has a leaf in it right now.

I love round tables.

The zebra print chairs have been recovered in Ethan Allen fabric. I got them off Craigslist for $ 80. They are a recognized brand name with some value..

The room is very open and a nice size but because of all the openings and the walk through issues, I have limited arrangement choices.

I will post new pictures when I get my bookshelves back this week. That back wall will be filled. There isn't even room for a sofa table although I would very much like one.

The sofa will have a matching ottoman. Ethan Allen decorated suggested the Sunbrella after seeing what I have, so aside from the white, I am not worried about the fabric blending with what I have. If you spill coffee directly on the Sunbrella, you can wipe it off with a tissue -- that was the sales pitch. I will still have to be somewhat careful. They suggested keeping a cleaning rag under the sofa itself, so you can grab it in a second.

The nesting tables will go at the end of the sofa. There won't even be room to hang anything except the picture you see on the floor which will go above the chair. I do have a huge empty wall in the stairwell which faces into the room, but I am not tackling that until everything else is done or I find something inexpensive which will fill the space. I don't want to invest in something that I can't take into my retirement home and I have a lot of art, just no place to put it in this room.

I already have the accessories I posted. They are actually on the shelves next to the fireplace temporarily. I bought them to help with the bookshelves when they are done. I knew I would need bookends and some big pieces to make the shelves work. I am a scholar, so there is never enough book storage space and as the designer said, this is my personality, so it should be in the room. Picking the nicest books to put in the living room is going to be an issue as organization and looks don't usually align.

Is that the china cabinet as it looks now? That's the most beautiful piece of painted furniture I've ever seen. I love the deeper blue on the back panel. That's very now. It's stunning. I wouldn't touch it. The whitewashed dining furniture will look gorgeous with that.

The white sofa is gorgeous and goes with all the pale furniture. It will be absolutely elegant!

I love the bookends and pear. They add a much needed modern touch.

Thanks Christopher. I have this wish for blue like the blue picture I shared, but I am afraid to touch that piece even though it is not the color I would have chosen. When I finished reading your comment, about the china hut, I thought you were referring to the fruitwood finish piece, not the sample blue hutch below in . I needed lots of encouragement to do what I want as it is a huge job with risks.

Here is your cabinet in yellow and in purple. I thought about doing the chairs, too, then realized one reason I like mid-mod so much: it's so easy to cut the furniture out.

So I am going to go with silver, ivory, blue, purple and the pale yellow on the walls will just be background.

The rug was only $ 525. I really didn't want to spend $ 1,700 on a rug when I don't know what will fit in my retirement home.

For me, this means I definitely don't want to keep the medium tone woods. I want to lighten color of the chairs for absolutely sure.
