Mother retreat area?? Idea

I have a 10x12 room for myself. I'm wanting a small resort, spa, relaxing area for me some DOWN time. I have these in here now. Don't mind painting but not sure of a color. Thought of putting a mural on one wall. I decided to let my houzz friends help

Lucky you :)! What are you planning on doing in there? Reading, writing, watching TV... This will alter what's in the room? Are you keeping what's currently in there and working around that or starting from scratch?

When you watch TV do you like to be sitting or lying down in your future spa room?

Then I think you need a chaise or sofa or sectional so you can sprall. Not sure how big your room is....but I suspect small enough to mean: out with chairs and two seater, and in with new furniture (if that's in the budget).

What colours do you find soothing?

I agree with Mariaed. If it's in the budget... A chaise for lounging, TV on stand or mounted ( not sure what's on the other wall and makes sense) and a small side table for a lamp, book and a cup of coffee, tea or wine ;)! Put in accessories that make you happy and relaxed :)!

Maybe something like this? It could double as an extra bed if needed

I googled soothing colors and these are my favorites: Benjamin Moore's Durango Dust (light apricot) . Also, Pratt & Lambert Sweet Lady (gray violet). Both are described as colors that change as the light changes. They both coordinate with a wide range of colors that makes choosing acccessories easy. If you can't purchase new furniture, perhaps you can buy ready made slips covers (SureFit is one brand and JC Penny sells some too) or make your own with a canvas drop cloth. Instructions can be found on several site on the internet. I've bookmarked two for myself! New pillows and throws can make a big difference too. Love candles? Buy battery powered candles in different sizes and colors. If I spend a lot of time in a room it must have live plants! That's only a start!

if you were able to find a fair sized ottoman and place it in front of the sofa you could you it as a chaise for lounging.

I think you might like something to put your feet up on while you're relaxing :-)

Yea your right think I need to decide on a room color and stop being cheap and GO SHOPPING! Maybe look for a chaise. I want this room to turn out PERFECT!!!

Pick your personal very favorite color and take a shade of it to windows and ceiling where you can have it cut with white to a lighter tone - make yourself a cocoon! Add soft lighting, a reading lamp, chaise, throw, soft drapes, bookcase, tv and ALLWAYS fresh flowers.

    Are you near an Ikea?
An option would be their Ektorp chair with a footstool. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

It did it again. That was supposed to be a whole other message, blame Houzz.
