Hi Jennifer -- I think they are far enough apart in your space to read as compatible cousins -- not matchy, but related. So I like them -- pehaps not side by side, but calling out to one another from adjacent spaces.

I also moved your blinds up to the height of your curtain rod. (Cursor over photo for wide angle.) Great space!

I just wanted to comment on how much I love what I see of your living room! I am curious to hear what others have to say on the runner because I would think the same thing....although love your selection.

Hi - the stairs actually come down into the den... so they are physically about 6 ft apart. I will go downstairs now to lift my blinds! Thank you both!

I would say how likely are you to get bored with the blue? I personally like the tan because then it doesn't matter what I do in the living room; it will go. But I'm boring LOL!

They're too close in pattern to be in the same area. Does the runner material have another pattern that wouldn't compete with the curtains? Also, one looks powdery blue and the other more of an aqua. I can see why you like them both but they're too similar & in a not good way.

Also, I wouldn't do a runner in that light of a color. It's pretty now but will show dirt and footpath.

Shoes cannot be worn in the house if you like to keep the runner clean, personally I would go with something plain and darker ,regardless of what you will choose ,spray the carpet with Scotch Guard .

I agree that the patterns and colors are too similar and therefore I would recommend something else. Wool rugs naturally repel dirt and traffic patterns.
