My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Moroccan rugs: Colorful or Neutral?

Hi all,
We decided to spice things up by posting a few pictures of our latest tribal Moroccan rug collection.
Option #1 A gorgeous shaggy Beni Ouarain rug, with 100% virgin wool hand knotted in our atelier in Rabat.
Option #2 is a red Glaoui Moroccan rug, hand knotted in our atelier in Marrakesh. 100% virgin wool.
Option #3 is another Glaoui Moroccan rug style with a different color palette, hand knotted in our atelier in Rabat with 100% virgin wool.
Option #4 Another stunning hand knotted Glaoui with a creamy background and superb motifs.All wool!

      I'm a huge Beni Ouarain fan so I'm biased, but I like all the other Glaoui rugs too. Very diverse textures!

      Yes @bluenan, the fiery orange/red mixture with the blue background is gorgeous. All my rugs are custom and handknotted by Moroccan artisan women with exceptional skills. They have a lot of experience making Royal Moroccan rugs - which are extremely demanding (high # of knots per sq inch, similar to Persian rugs) so these Glaoui pieces are like a nice break to them. They get to express themselves freely in these pieces...

      It's very special in Morocco since craftsmanship skills are transferred from generation to generation. It's one of the very few countries that still preserves upscale handmade art. I was born and raised in Morocco, and I have so much love for these people.

      @sbrustein, I'm assuming you're referring to the Beni Ouarain. Yes, that's the eternal "dilemma" when it comes to Beni Ouarain rugs. They're extremely popular thanks to hip design magazines, and if you're buying a REAL Moroccan Beni Ouarain then the background is supposed to be undyed wool, so even if it gets dirty it can easily get washed off. With a no shoes policy and regular vacuuming, that rug should last forever...

      The light colored wool on mine is very easy to clean...has something to do with the high lanolin content. I was so upset when my puppy had it's first mistake on the rug...but came right out and none the worse for the wear :)

      I own a Beni Ouarain moroccan rug and I've had it for two years. If its authentic, stains will clean right off.

      I voted for the red. Colourful by all means, and I would normally have voted for the blue, but the colours are simply too saturated. I prefer the slightly less in-your-face traditional (vegetal) colours. :)
