Black Friday is my favorite day of the year! The shopping is great, but it has more to do with our family tradition. All the women in my family, from grandma to great grand-babies, go up to San Francisco for the day to start our holiday shopping. I don't seem to get into the holiday spirit until I feel the crisp Bay Area breeze on my cheeks. Hope you all enjoy your "Grey Wednesday, Black Friday, and/or Cyber Monday!"

That's the only day of the year that my teenage grandsons will agree to go shopping. There is something exciting about shopping at 3:00 A.M. Then stopping at Krispy Kreme donuts for hot, fresh donuts and hot chocolate !!!

Oh man, Krispy Kreme...those are the best especially when they are hot off the press. A classic glazed donut never tasted so good, plus after a 3am wake up call you need the sugar to solider on to the next shopping experience haha! That's so awesome that you take your grandsons with you, the boys in our family either go to a car show or play golf.

Second.... I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts. We will be sending out our Black Friday, Small Biz Saturday, CyberMonday emails out starting this weekend. What do you think is better - a % off discount code or offering a gift card to another store that has more basic items people need for the holidays like ToysRUs or Target?

Hi Lyvonne, although I would personally like the % off I can see that the gift card would be an enticing "Quick" reward for many shoppers. So, I guess my vote would be the gift card that would appeal to the most people. :-)

From here on out I will personally be boycotting any store that is now opening on Thanksgiving. Anti-American holiday hating greed monster companies, no thanks, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Toys R Us, Target, Kohls, Macy's, Sears, JcPenney, Kmart, Walmart, Old Navy, all of them. Awful. It's sad to think while so many people are out shopping on Thanksgiving "enjoying the holiday" with their families, they are causing others to not be able to enjoy it with theirs. That's the American mentality for you--every man for himself.

@solincia, I'm with you. I've always enjoyed Thanksgiving but it seems that it is becoming more and more difficult to stop and have a truly thankful day when Christmas is on its heels and merchants are so intent on jump starting our Christmas spending. Family time is already difficult enough to come by in our "hurry up" society.

I do not shop on Black Friday. I certainly will not be shopping on Thanksgiving. That is terrible that stores will be making people work on this truly American holiday. Maybe if enough people DON'T shop on thanksgiving they will not repeat it.
