Just repainted our large family room with cathedral ceiling to a nice beige from Benjamin Moore called Clay Beige. Check it out. It's a real nice contrast with our high gloss white trim.

There are many lovely beige colors but first you have to identify the undertones in the other elements in the room - flooring, upholstery, drapes that will help you narrow your choices - for example, oak hardwood flooring has an orangey undertone which will not look right with a pink beige - also determine if your element colors "clean" or "dirty"

Thank you Dee. We plan to get natural maple floors, a navy sofa, blue and tan or white/ yellow stripe chairs. The window treatments are white, wooden blinds. The room has high ceilings and lots of natural light.

capemaynj - I know you are looking for a beachy feel but consider a light gray - it will be stunning with the navy & yellow - you can add coastal accents - white distressed frames / sea shells / pillows & throws - it will still be beachy with a sophisticated feel. Another option is to pick out a neutral in an area rug, drapes or wall art and have your paint matched - Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, HD or Lowes all can do it.

The natural maple floors will add the yellow undertone that you should look for in your tan - true camel has the same undertone, so variations on those work well. but think carefully - yellow and tan fight each other. If you want to use a lot of yellow accents . . .a golden wall color would do better - like sw blonde
