What Kind of wood used on porch ceiling

We have been at a standstill to put a ceiling on our porch, we have no Idea what type of wood to use?? HELP :)

The ceiling in this picture is a 1x4x3/4 Douglas Fir Tongue and Groove Bead Board – Clear/Select finished with a clear polyurethane. Good luck with your project!

For a different look, we used southern yellow pine v groove -- wider planks and less expensive. Finished with a rub-off stain (Provincial) and poly. Just FYI

S Bailey - How is the southern yellow pine holding up? We want to do something like this on our front porch, but we are in NC so we have a lot of humidity/rain. Trying to decide on wood type based on durability, looks, and price.
