I would paint it....you want it to reflect all the beautiful things in your room, not be center stage.

In the kitchen we have just painted the walls "double chocolate" with white wainscotting. and white cabinets. The kitchen is open beside the dining room, I have purchased a large round decorative mirror for one wall and a large chrome clock for another wall. These you will see from the dining room. Thanks for your input.

I would definitely paint it the same as your trim to give it a more custom look.
