Carpet or laminate?

What is best for our lake house. Carpet or laminate? It's moist here. Also have wood heat in basement.

Mud means sharp little rocks stuck in shoes that scratch laminate. If it is seasonal, you want to consider this;

Do you live in the house year 'round? Is this a summer house? A winter ski cabin? How large is your family? Do you have pets?

It is a year 'round place. We have no pets. but we are hoping to sell it so was just wondering what is most popular flooring for a recreational lake place. Will be most likely used as summer home.

Laminate wood flooring appears more "high end" than carpets.

Would go with laminate. Lake houses can be very inviting to family and friends which creates a lot of wear and work.

Laminate flooring is an extremely versatile flooring product. It can be installed in virtually any room of your home, above or below ground, over wood or concrete . It is designed to heavy traffic. And also easy to clean and maintain . Dirt and dust cannot keep on in laminate flooring.
There are several locations that are not recommended for laminate flooring. Because laminate flooring is a wood flooring product it is not recommended that laminates be installed in wet locations such washrooms, enclosed porches or verandas. Also, ensure that all spills are mopped up and dried promptly.
Please consider all the points before going in for a laminate. The amount of moisture your flooring is going to be exposed is the main point.

We have laminate (the inexpensive buck-a-sq. ft. stuff) in our trailer and adjoining sun room, which we only use in the summer, in Ontario, Canada. We installed it about 6 years ago and have had no issues at all. It is easy to clean and mostly we can get away with just sweeping up all the sand, pine needles, and dust. So it's stood up to kids, dogs, and temperature extremes galore all this time!

I would recommend that you look at the allure products from Home Depot. Durable as iron, easy to install and looks good

Why not porcelain tile with jute rugs over them??? Looks like wood, but tile. Laminate can become unstable, even if glued.

I'd say neither, for all reasons mentioned.

Ceramic wood tile maybe?
