Agree with white bedding on bottom and bright walls in a color you love, then a cool rug and throw and pillows and lots of boho touches.

Consider a cream color Moroccan rug as a foundation. If you stick with a neutral/natural palette, some beautiful bohemian accessories can be added: pillows, throw, lamps...Also consider leaving the wall color and adding a tapestry: Suzani or painting. Look for timeless bohemian elements you can take with you. Since it's your parents house, simplicity and clarity of space to respect both your tastes & their home! :)

How about a white-on-white pallet with accents in spice colors? If you go look at paint swatches, you'll see that there is a huge range of color, all considered part of the white color family. Then accent wth colors like cinnamon, sage green, paprika red, cumin yellow.

By Bohemian, I assume you mean lots of patterns in reds, oranges, yellows, purples, and an eclectic style. Start with a red Turkish/Moroccan rug. There are lots of cheap knock-offs on Overstock, or make one by patching together 4 inexpensive patterned rugs. Keep your paint color fairly neutral so the room could be changed easily. Even a purplish gray could be neutral. Look for bright silk pieces of material, such as Saris or duvet covers from World Market. You can hang one as a wall hanging. Put your bed in a corner against two walls and arrange the throw pillows against the walls so it looks like a big loungy couch. Go crazy with lots of throw pillows in patterned silks. Use poofs for extra seating. Buy a bunch of big ornate frames at a second-hand store and paint them bright, shiny colors. Hang them together and overlapping. Inside some of them, pin photos you like.
